A few people have asked us recently about switching from ChatGPT to Claude, and whether it’s actually worth it.
Here’s what keeps coming up.
The writing quality is genuinely better. It doesn’t read like something generated by a tool trying to sound clever. It reads like someone who understood the brief, took the context seriously, and gave you something close to publish-ready. For proposals, technical documentation, or anything client-facing, that’s a meaningful difference.
It also follows instructions properly. That may not sound that important, but when you have my clearly-getting-older-and-grumpier level of patience, it is. And for the record, I am still not speaking to Siri, which is off the scale when it comes to being irritating. Ask Claude to stay on topic, match a tone, or avoid certain things, and it actually does. ChatGPT has a habit of wandering.
A couple of things that make a real difference once you get going. Give Claude a role to work from. Tell it to act as a sceptical editor, an experienced UX designer, or a fractional CFO, and the responses sharpen up considerably. It starts thinking from that perspective rather than giving you a generic answer. Similarly, be specific about what you want. Word count, tone, format, number of options. Claude doesn’t get bored or judgmental, so there’s no reason to hold back on the detail.
Neither tool is perfect, and the right one often depends on the task. But if people keep asking me what I’d recommend for serious day-to-day work, Claude is where I’d point them.Although this isn’t our video, it goes into much more depth on the above if you still need more information.
