Joining the Chemical Processing sector in the North East of England: NEPIC

Here at Readysalted, we are very excited about our new membership with NEPIC. And this is why. Interestingly, the world of chemical processing has been subject to a lack of awareness of the financial investment potential within the sector. NEPIC are embracing the opportunity to provide a big picture view of the sector for stakeholders and industry executives. Membership of NEPIC offers immediate connectivity to a wide and diverse process industry incorporating petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, fine & speciality, biotechnology, polymers, bio resources & renewables and significant supply chain.

Currently, the chemical processing sector represents half of the regions economy and the growth is set to continue. It was in fact identified that £5 billion in potential future investments are possible within this sector. It’s not hard to believe that this staggering figure was published in a prediction report, that received parliamentary recognition.

Right now, right here, we are seeing the highest levels of investment into the process sector of the North East of England” – NEPIC 2017

This prediction has completely re landscaped the industry. It highlighted the importance of understanding the sector and maximising on an opportunity to take it to where it can be. This is where NEPIC play an integral part in the future of the sector. This is also, where the challenge starts. We now know the sector has tremendous potential, but many in and outside of the sector do not. This is why NEPIC have taken the challenge to engage and develop potential investments into the local industry. In the previous year, they have given us a promising example of whats to come. Dealing with 196 significant potential investments into the local industry, resulting in 95 of those projects being landed. As published in the NEPIC 2017 directory, there is no room for complacency within the sector. Especially, as we are yet to see the impact of Brexit on investment.

Simon HoneywoodWe kick started our NEPIC membership with the NEPIC cluster event on the 1st of February 2018 at Womble Bond Dickinson. This opportunity allowed us to present ourselves to existing members. The event was attended by our MD Simon Honeywood, it was a great introduction to our new membership.

The future of the Chemical Processing industry is looking to be one of growth and potential. We will be staying tuned.
